Dan Cohen and Gabe Shaughnessy reunite to bring your mind warping imagery that pushes the limits of digital/analog collaboration. The two artists will combine digital projection with traditional mural painting techniques to create a narrative installation that shifts and transforms through the course of the event. Have you ever seen a mural bend to the bass notes? Ever seen a live video of the audience painted into a mural?
We didn’t think so.
This year at Emrgnsee, expect rich visual imagery, live painting like you’ve never experienced it, and interactive visionary artwork filling your Dome.
Darren Minke is a Visual Alchemist, working with several different mediums to bring his visions to life. His current digital artwork uses photography that is painstakingly collaged together to create rich and vibrant imagery, that looks more like painting than computer generated graphics. His stained wood series uses the natural grain of wood panels to determine the images used in the artwork. He uses overlapping layers of wood stain that is rubbed into the wood to give the final artwork the appearance of polished wood that contains images within.
Darren likes to combine images of the human body, with patterns and forms from the natural world. His work explores the boundaries between opposing metaphors, archetypes, religious and spiritual beliefs in an attempt to create new stories from the mixture of symbols.
Darren’s images also reflect the influence of his experiences with altered states, from meditation to psychedelic and shamanistic voyages. He attempts to capture the essence of these experiences and utilize the imagery of ancient and tribal artwork, which he believes share the influence of such journeys.
Most of his work has a strong feminine character, and he strives to break the stereotypes of gender and resurrect the idea of the divine feminine, in a society and belief system that is strongly patriarchal. Through the anthropomorphization of the natural world, he is also exploring man’s association with nature and his effects upon his own environment.
Christopher Wunderlich Artist Statement
Art and the creative process is the ultimate aspiration of the human experience. All mater is energy+void, organizing itself into particles and waves. When an artist fixes his intention and attention on the chosen art materials he infuses them with consciousness. The great artists, whose work endures over time, not only brought an advanced aesthetic and subject to their craft they brought prana to the art materials. That energy born of the creative intent is transferred to the viewer and the visual language is born. Art is the first telepathic and holographic language, meaning there is more information in art than the logical mind can comprehend.
As a sculptor I began exploring this idea by using materials from nature, shaping them without the use of power tools. A labor-intensive process is employed in the making of my work as a method of infusing it with power. This method was transferred to my pastel drawing, using a template of sacred geometry as a carrier of energy. The earthworks at Burning Man follow this idea with large geometric drawings raked into the earth surface as a method of meditation.
After graduating Minneapolis College of Art and Design I studied the sweatlodge ceremonies with the Lakota on the Indian reservations of Minnesota for 12 years. I turned to the indigenous people of Turtle Island to learn the shamanic realm and the true way of our natural world. I have been initiated into men’s circles and The Foundation /Capstone Mystery School and have spent 5 years practicing Rinsi Zen
with the Hollow Bones Order. My art has taken me on a spiritual path, which has guided me back to Art.
One of my deepest desires is to honor and celebrate the natural world and the “aliveness” of the present moment by creating timeless and magical paintings rich with color, soul and imagination. My paintings are created through many layers of bold experimentation with color, intuitive mark-making, etching, dripping, stamping and scrawling (words). I allow my paintings to emerge as a result of my own “letting go” and being open to the creative process.
Ultimately, I find purpose in the very act of creating, observing, and relating forms and colors to each other, and allowing new stories to unfold before me. My finished paintings are not meant to be conclusive; rather they are a celebration of the present moment, chaotic, subtle, and beautiful, mystical and ever-changing. I am honored to paint live this year at Emergnsee!

The ethereal landscapes he creates are a trip through a lifetime of creation and he has been around this planet many times over showcasing his talents.
Spinning wildly out of control and at the same time calm and beautiful in its nature, my art is an expression of who I am, the way I think and the way I see the world. I pile layers of brilliantly hot color, energetic scribbles and I scratch away just the same, sometimes bursting with impatience, others sensitive and soft.
I spontaneously free flow, grabbing words and images from my surroundings, a conversation I’m having, the person sitting next to me, YOU, a song I am listening to, the story my mind is telling me.
This combination of random is precisely what dictates its unpredictable perfection, wabi sabi style, as my art is also a tapping into life force languages, foreign and yet ever so familiar.

We believe ritual space is a vital part of realigning ourselves with these entities and the cycles of life. After training & performing on the silks for 5 years, something happened… my mind relinquished control of the dance and something much, much larger took its place. Undefinable by nature, yet familiar to most who have experienced timeless moments of zen, satori, or trance…this is what I offer through me, to you. Surrendering mind, body and spirit to the passion and presence of the moment, each performance is non-choreographed and is as unique as the moment in which it occurs, ideally accentuating the ecstatic presence we all bring to events such as EmrgNSee.
